COUNTY TEAM COMPETITIONS

 HASKELL TROPHY            

Mr. G Haskell donated the Haskell Trophy in 1969.   The Haskell team consists of one pair, playing Foursomes, off scratch, over 36 holes, to a result.  Semi-final and Final matches are always played at neutral venues, after earlier rounds played according to the draw, home or away.

STEARN TROPHY             

Mrs Hilda Stearn donated the original Stearn Trophy in 1985, her daughter kindly donated a new trophy in 2002. The Stearn team consists of 3 pairs playing match Foursomes off handicap play the competition on an inter-club basis.  The handicap bracket is 12 - 20 inclusive although players with a higher handicap may be involved provided they play off 20 on the day.  All matches are played over 36 holes to a result.  Stearn Trophy matches follow the 'home' venue of the Haskell draw.

WESTON TROPHY             

Mrs Weston presented her trophy to the SLCGA in 1980 for a singles competition to be played off scratch with teams consisting of 5 players. The teams are divided into two Divisions 1 and 2.There will be 12 teams in Division 1 which will be sub divided into 4 parallel groups A, B, C and D. All other teams will be in Division 2 which will be similarly divided, but in the case of odd numbers, some groups may contain four teams instead of three. Where this happens team i will play teams ii and iii and team iv will play teams ii and iii. In Div.1 the two teams with the most points will play for the Weston Trophy and in Div, 2 will play for the Weston Plate. The 2 winning teams in Div. 2 will be promoted to Div. 1 and the 2 lowest scores in Div. 1 will be demoted to Div. 2. In the event of a count back  i) number of holes up over all matches or ii) most points won at away venues.

CRANWORTH SALVER      

The Cranworth Trophy, presented to the Association by Lady Cranworth in 1936, is awarded for a 36 hole handicap knockout competition for teams of 6, playing off handicaps between 21 - 30 inclusive although players with a handicap up to 36 may be involved, provided they play off 30 on the day.  In the morning, 3 Foursomes matches are played, followed by 6 Singles matches in the afternoon.  Five points are awarded for each match as follows: one point for the first nine holes, another point for the second nine and three points for the overall result.  Semi-final and Final Matches are always played at neutral venues, after earlier rounds played according to the draw, home or away.
