The Skevington Bowl, Bungay, 10 August 2026
The Skevington Bowl was played at Bungay on a very dry and rock hard golf course on Monday the 10th of August after over 40 days with no rain. The course was as good as anyone could expect after the summer with greens and tee boxes all managed very well.
The format was, as always, 4BBB match play. The friendly tone was set as the Ladies accepted that the Men would be playing off the “yellow” tees against giving them an extra shot.
The day was tremendous fun, with a jovial atmosphere, much banter and laughter. The result was a friendly 3 all, leaving the Men to retain the trophy.
Sadly, one of the ladies had an injury and had to retire, leaving Vivienne Sears to compete on her own.
The team at Bungay were very helpful, providing coffee and tea before play and a one-course meal afterwards.

The SLPPC ladies were Birgitta Bostrom, Barbara Dennis, Caroline Emeny, Sally Crosbie, Vivienne Sears, Rita Fossey, Sheila Sheldrake, Vicky Hunt, Sue Fraenzel, Bev Gray, Anne Fenning and Denise Martin.
Birgitta Bostrom presents the trophy to the President of the Suffolk Captains, Charlie Wilderspin.
