The 30 degree heat did not deter the competitors from Suffolk who entered the combined East Region Championship at Bishop Stortford Golf Club. Alice Barlow, Bury St Edmunds, won the Women’s Scratch with a round of 79 in the morning and 69 in the afternoon. Alice’s 10 birdies in the afternoon pushed Jasmine Points, Bury St Edmunds, into second place with her rounds of 75 & 75 on the Par 73 course. Needless to say, Jasmine won the Girl’s Championship with a nine shot lead. Josie Knights, Ipswich, came 3rd and Shannon Noble, Ipswich, 6th in a field of 20 entries; these strong performances by the Suffolk Juniors were enough to secure them the County Team event with an aggregate score of 478, 10 better than Essex. The Seniors 18 hole event was won by Tina Jeary, Flempton, with a gross score of 81, 1 shot better than her longstanding Hertfordshire rival, Jackie Foster. A big congratulations to you all!
