Suffolk Golf Day Hintlesham 27th July 2026
The 2026 Suffolk Golf day was held at Hintlesham Golf Club on Monday 27th July. The forecast was for hot humid conditions but there was some cloud cover and a light zephyr of a breeze, with the sun only breaking through in the last hour of play. As with all local courses, the ground was hard, the grass was brown, with oases of greens (and some tees) but in good condition not withstanding.
There were 21 teams (84 ladies), with the usual shotgun start at 10am. The same format as at the East Suffolk Golf Day was followed, with pairs of two from each team playing a 4BBB Stableford with a pair from another team, but with the team prize being presented to the team of 4 with the best 2 4BBB scores added together.
First Place: Amanda Boutell, Sam Edwards, Helena Honour and Mary Sparrow from Fynn Valley and Diss
The winners were Amanda Boutell, Sam Edwards, Helena Honour and Mary Sparrow from Fynn Valley and Diss, with a magnificent score of 82 points, on count back.
Second Place: Susie Blackett, Sharon Graves, Angela Sherring and Karen Hoskins, from Seckford
In second place, Susie Blackett, Sharon Graves, Angela Sherring and Karen Hoskins, from Seckford also on 82, again on countback.
Third Place: Di Hegarty Jean Emmerson Susan Poole and Ginnie Hart from Fynn Valley

As it is the Ladies County Golf Association centenary year, each player was given a coolbag as a momento of the day. In addition, Vicki Hunt and Kristina Matthews from the Centenary Committee worked tirelessly all day running a ‘hickory’ challenge on the first hole. A prize was presented to Julie Askem and Susan Sparrow from Fynn Valley, Julie scoring a birdie 3 on the hole.

East Suffolk Golf Day 2026
The annual East Suffolk Golf Day was held at Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club on Friday 24th April. This was the first competition to be held in our Centenary year and to mark the occasion hickory clubs were made available for ladies to test their skills in a chipping and putting competition before the main event. Jude Hanner, Tessa Summers and Ginny Hart all came in with the same score (13 points) in what was very enjoyable prelude to the day.
The course proved to be challenging and the changed format for the day added a sense of jeopardy to the competition (teams of four, with 2 from one team playing with 2 from another and then the scores combined to provide the overall winners). The team of Dott Wilson; Clare Woods; Rosie Owen; Rita Fossey scored an amazing 87 points with the runners-up Tessa Summers; Penny Gaunt; Mary Seymour-Taylor; Louise Morse coming in with a score of 82 points
Our grateful thanks to Bungay & Waveney Valley for hosting the event. The course was in fabulous condition, and the food and service provide by staff was beyond excellent!
A great start to the competition calendar in Centenary year
Suffolk Golf Day at Hintlesham draws 100 players
100 players entered the Suffolk Golf Day at Hintlesham in teams of four with the best two Stableford scores counting on each hole – playing handicaps were reduced to 85%.
The winning team from Bramford scored 104 points, achieving an impressive average of almost 2 nett birdies per hole.

In second place with 91 points were a team from Seckford.
Sharon Graves, Karen Hoskins, Julie Cook, Susie Blackett.
In third place with 90 points – were a team from Bramford.

The day ran very smoothly thanks to the brilliant organisational skills of Mary Stephenson to whom we are always most grateful.
A big thank you to Heather Baynon and Yvonne Southey from Seckford for selling raffle tickets: £575 was raised to support the juniors.
Thank you to Hintlesham for their great hospitality and food and for giving up their course. We look forward to welcoming 25 teams again next year on July 27th.
