East Region Australian Spoons Regional final Stowmarket July 23rd 2026
On Thursday, July 23rd, Suffolk hosted the East Region Australian Spoons Regional final at Stowmarket Golf Club. This is an England Golf foursomes competition open to golfers with a handicap index of 15 or higher. 78 ladies from 39 clubs across Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire descended on Stowmarket, having won their individual club’s competition. The weather was perfect for golf, and the golf course was looking superb considering the very adverse weather conditions we have been experiencing.
There were lots of very good scores but Joanne Urry and Tracy Aston from Thorndon Park GC were the eventual winners with 40 points, pipping Jackie Allport and Jan Frost from Felixstowe Ferry GC on count back. Congratulations, ladies, and we wish you all the very best for the final at Woodhall Spa on August 10th.
A big thank you to the Stowmarket Golf Club staff for helping us run this competition so smoothly and to the Stowmarket volunteers, who were just brilliant!

Coronation & Centenary Foursomes 2025
The Coronation and Centenary foursomes were held at Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club on Tuesday 10th June.
We received a very friendly welcome at Bungay. The weather was mostly dry, but very windy, which was a keen test for the players.
This was a first for SLCGA, holding both competitions on the same day. We had 23 pairs in the Coronation Foursomes, starting on the first and 12 pairs in the Centenary Foursomes, starting on the 11th.
The course was in lovely condition, thanks to the Head Green keeper and team.
Catering manager, Kevin and his team, provided a delicious buffet and the restaurant area was beautifully presented.
Vicki Hunt, SLCGA President, presented the trophies and prizes.
