Essex vs Suffolk

On Friday 29 May the Suffolk Seniors travelled to Chigwell Golf Club in Essex for their first East Anglian League match of the season.  We received a warm welcome by Julie and her team and as always there was good camaraderie between the two Counties.

Considering the hot weather during the previous week and barely any rain for a couple of months, the course was in excellent condition with the fairways lush and the greens running true.  Our starter for the day was Clyde, a charismatic member of the Club, who had a constant flow of great stories of meeting famous golfers to keep us entertained. There was some great golf played in good spirits with Rachel getting an eagle on a par 5 and Lynne finishing her match with 2 birdies.  We came away with a 1.5/4.5 win against a County that we normally lose to on their home territory.

We had a delicious Chicken Caesar Salad after the match which was ideal considering the hot humid conditions during the day.  Thanks go to Chigwell Golf Club for hosting us and to my team who fought hard and came away with a well deserved win.  A great start to the season.
