Don’t miss out on the beginning proper of the golfing season. There are plenty of things to think about and join in with: 20th April is the closing date for Division 4 entries (Suffolk Golf & County Club, 8th May, handicaps 32 and over); entries for Division 3 (Haverhill GC 15th May, handicaps 25-31) must be in by 27th April.  If you haven’t entered a Division Meeting before, please don’t hesitate.   The main intention is for you to enjoy yourself, your golf and the pleasure of meeting other people whom you might like to see again, either at your invitation meeting or just for a game with a friend or friends.

County Championships and Seniors Championship (Ipswich GC 10-12th May 2019) entries close 22nd April.  If your handicap is 18 or less, please take the plunge.  So far the entry numbers are frankly disappointing and, if you are intent on improving your golf game, and we hope you are for the sake of your own enjoyment, NOW is a good time to start. Competition golf, as you will already know, can be wonderful and even exhilarating.  You can believe those of us who have pursued the dream over the years that entering the Suffolk Championship is a bit like that first dip in a swimming pool.  Once you’ve seized the chance and put your skill on the line it can be invigorating, exhilarating even!  The image shows the picturesque first green at Ipswich and this is a wonderful opportunity to play at the prestigious venue, which will host an international event later in the summer (English Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship August 20-22). Please don’t hesitate: enter the appropriate Suffolk Championship now!

The Seniors will play Norfolk on 14th May at Middleton Hall GC and the Juniors have a list of engagements during the month (See Events or the Blue Book for details).
